Junk removal in Broomfield
Contracted collection, and the $25-per-item rule
Broomfield is unusual in the metro: it is a combined city and county, and it has contracted Waste Connections for kerbside trash and recycling. That covers single-family homes and small multi-unit buildings of seven units or fewer that are not already inside an HOA with its own waste contract. Recycling runs every other week on your normal service day.
For anything too big to fit in a closed cart, the programme charges $25 per item, arranged directly with Waste Connections rather than the city. Residents aged 65 and over, veterans and active military get 10% off. Per-item pricing is fine for one chair; it stops making sense somewhere around the fifth item, which is where a single flat-rate load wins.
The genuinely free option is the annual Spring Cleanup, which exists specifically for the large non-hazardous things haulers do not normally take. Everything must be on the kerb by 7 a.m., not in the driveway and not blocking the sidewalk. It is worth planning around — but it comes once a year, and estate deadlines and closing dates rarely line up with it.
Neighbourhoods we hear from most
- Original Broomfield — Older homes with detached garages and long-term storage.
- Broadlands and Anthem — Newer family homes, furniture turnover, basement finishing debris.
- Interlocken — Commercial and office clearouts, furniture and IT equipment.
- Willow Run and Aspen Creek — Established family stock at the garage-cleanout stage.
Broomfield in numbers
- 74,112 residents at the 2020 census.
- Its own city and county — the only one of our service areas that is both, which is why its waste rules match none of its neighbours.
- $25 per item for bulky pickup, so a ten-item clearout is $250 before anything heavy or awkward is considered.
